Homemade bubble tea

There is nothing more satisfying than a cup of bubble tea with pearls on a hot summer day. My craving for it finally drove me to make some myself.
Basic ingredients are, 1 packet of Nagasaki honey milk green tea. This instant drink taste really nice and the honey taste is strong. Dissolve in some hot water.

Pearls bought from a supermarket in US. I dun think it is available here in Israel. People here dun drink bubble tea, coz I never saw it being sold in any of the restaurants nor have I ever seen anyone drinking it.

After boiling the pearls and mixing it with some honey or sugar syrup, this is how it finally looks like. Chewy....yum yum....

And last but not least, my martini shaker. Add ice cubes, the honey milk tea and shake shake shake.....

Voila! The good old honey milk tea is done! Managed to keep the fat straw when I was in the states drinking bubble tea coz I knew it will come in handy..haha :)

Homemade Fan choy

First time making fan choy. Taste quite like the real thing although it doesn't look very attractive. Got my recipe from ellenaguan.blogspot. Nice website with a lot of recipes. Missed the fan choy I always used to eat from Tiong Bahru market. About 2 more months to go and I will be back home in SG...haha....air tickets already booked. Going to tuck into my fan choy now before it gets cold....bon appetite! :)

New iPad pouch

It's been a while since I made anything, so decided to make a pouch for my new iPad. Decided on this star theme design. It's padded on both sides for protection and the star on the bottom left was made with felt and stuffed with cottonwool to make it squishy.

Back view of the pouch.

It fits just nice, a bit tight at the sides though. The lid also turned out to be slightly crooked. Sianz...

Inside of the pouch was lined with star theme fabric. Took me about 2 days to get this done, getting rusty with using the sewing machine.

Hello kitty Macdonalds Plushies

When I saw that Macdonalds in SG is having this promotion, I immediately let out a [SILENT SCREAM!] Arggghhhhhhh......!!! it's silent, coz i stuffed the blanket into my mouth and let out a agonising scream into my pillow so that nobody actually hears me or else my neighbors will think somebody must have been murdered in my house and called the police or something. I missed eating Macdonalds (it's my therapy food) and plus now there are these cute adorable plushies to collect....sighz.....and it's like tempting me and taunting me while I am stuck here in this Super Sianz Boringest place on Earth with Super yucky sianz food. There are also Macdonalds here but it's kosher style and believe me, its doesn't taste like the good old Macodnalds at all. Basically, I havent had any fast food therapy here (no KFC, LJS, Burger King or Moss Burger etc) at all for months except when I flew out of this country. So, most likely people will guess that I must have lost weight since no junk food to eat, everyday just eat v healthy home cooked meals which are mainly vegetables. But NNOooo.....i din even lost weight at all.....in fact, I am still 51.7kg. Interestingly, when I told people that I am about 50kg, they gave me this jaw dropping expression like, 'r u kidding me!?' look on their face coz they thought I looked like I weight about 43kg. Then they probably try to console me or try to find a logical explanation that my bones must be V heavy. Maybe my bone are REALLY heavy, I dunoe...I find it impossible to drop my weight back to 45-48kg which I once was. I exercised everyday burning about 200 calories on my threadmill and playing Wii active, eat basically 1.5 meal a day (dinner is vegetarian), no oily fried food, no soft drinks, no fast food, no bubbletea, no eggs even for the past 3 weeks, and I still can't lose a single weight. It's CRAZY! ILLOGICAL! Which means the only way left for me to lose weight is to starve myself totally and not eat a single thing and die slowly of starvation.....it just makes no sense. Given my very Zen and healthy eating lifestyle here and I still can't drop any weights, I bet one week after I went back to SG, I will surely put on 10-20kg in a blink of an eye and start rolling around like a ball and nobody will even recognize me!! Hahaha......oh dear....think I am going crazy soon. It's 4 more months to go! Must persevere....

Kiasu gay landlords coming over tomorrow with a real estate agent (coz they finally gave up on trying to sell the house on their own and decided to engage professional help) and some people to look at the house...sianz......*_*

Summer tales....

Been busy reading ghost stories by Mary Downing Hahn recently. There's nothing better than reading a ghost story on a hot summer night because of the chill down my spine, haha... A natural way to keep myself cool. Anyway, besides the ghostly content (which is actually not scary at all to me), I like the writer's style of writing coz it keeps me entranced in reading till the end.

One of the more scary and sad story by Mary Downing Hahn.

Latest book I read.

This is not much of a ghost story, more like a historical civil war story. Definitely my least fave among all her books, as it took me quite some time to finish reading it. Guess she should just stick to writing ghostly tales.

Something different from the rest as this was about vampires instead of ghost with unfinished business. Interesting.

A typical classical ghost story by the writer.

I hate summer!

This will be my second and last summer spent in Israel. I hate summer most of all. Being from Singapore, I should be used to it but I still hate the hot, humid feeling. Even Poochi is finding it hot coz he keeps laying on his back and trying to cool his belly towards the fan. When the weather was cold, I still find it okay living here but now, I'm just counting down to going back home. Plus, my kiasu gay landlord kept bringing people over to see the house (coz they wana sell it ) so it's become v disruptive with strangers coming and see the place I lived in, sometimes walking around with their shoes. Hey, there's still 5 more miserable months to go before we moved out. I felt like I'm living in a showroom with people looking through the glass at me, totally no privacy at all. Nothing beats living in your OWN house!

Looking forward to the Norway/Amsterdam trip in August. Taking a break from the heat and go somewhere cooler. Yes!! Looking forward to it! Haha.....

Mediterranean Cruise Trip-Spain, France and Italy (Part 1 )

This is a long overdue post. Shortly after coming back from Jordan, we went for a Mediterranean cruise by Royal Caribbean during the first 2 weeks of May. Its my first trip to Europe and since none of us want to plan for this Europe trip, we decided to take the cruise where everything was planned out for us and we dun have to worry about lodgings, transportation or food.

We need to board the ship at Barcelona, Spain. Decided to take Turkish Airlines for the first time after hearing some v good feedbacks from the guys, especially regarding the lounge. OMG! The lounge was awesome! Its like stepping into a countryclub. Definitely one of the best lounge I had ever been to. There were so many varieties of food and beverages and its all free! There were pizzas, spaghetti, rice, mixed veggies, kabab, soup, cheesecakes, chocolate cakes, etc...and free flow of wine, all sorts of liquors (I drank my fave irish bailey...yumyum...), juices, sodas, slurpees, etc. I din even have time to try all the food and drinks coz we only have about 2 hrs transit time in Turkey before departing for Barcelona. Probably my last time visiting this lounge coz Hubby's gold Krisflyer card will expire next month... :(

Chicken soup, some lamb and chicken kabab with rice and Turkish pizza.
There was this tv room with several channels and earphones available so that u watch without disturbing others with the noise.
It's a v quiet and relaxing atmosphere
Found my cozy little corner to stare into space while munching....
Barcelona city tour
On the hilltop overlooking Barcelona city
The Royal Carribean ship, Liberty of the Sea from far.

The famous La Sagrada Familiar Basilica built by Anthony Gaudi (front view), one of the most impressive Gothic style architecture in Barcelona by Gaudi.

Back view of the building. It had been under construction since 1880s?! What I heard from the guide was that the architecture was so complex that it was still building and probably will never complete. Too bad, I din get the chance to go in due to time constraint on the tour. Hopefully, if I get the chance to go Barcelona again, I will surely go inside the building.
The city tour ended by bringing us to check into the ship. View of our stateroom with a window.
Off we sailed.....from Barcelona to the city of Cannes, France.

The seaside was beautiful.
This stretch of beach was known as the French Riveria. The water was cold...
The most famous attraction in Cannes was the Cannes theatre where stars graced the red carpet.
Next stop, Provence, supposed to be the place for lavenders. However, they were not in season so basically nothing much to look at. It's a very sleepy place....that's my look of boredom.
Countryside sceneries
This is supposed to be the Love Fountain. Doesn't look like much to me. Most shops and restaurants were closed, felt like a ghost town. Realized that in France, it's expensive to use the toilet. Like the sayings, there is no free lunch in this world, just like there are no free public restrooms. For example, when I was in Cannes, I decided to pop by Macdonalds to use the restroom but I was shocked to see they actually installed a security device at the restroom door which stated that u need to key in the access code from the recipe in order to access the bathroom. I was like, 'what?! R u kidding me?! this is ridiculous!'
The only thing I looked forward to was the food on the ship at the end of the day. After the first night at the assigned dinning room where it's more formal with people serving you and seated with people whom I dunoe, we spent the rest of the nights eating dinner at the buffet area. It's not that I am antisocial or I disliked my waiter but I preferred the wide variety of food found at the buffet, where there were Chinese and Japanese food, which were not available at the fine dinning room. Otherwise mostly all the food served at the dinning room can also be found at the buffet. That night, there was lobster bisque soup, my fave! Think I drank about 2-3 bowls of it...haha...It's good to help yourself to whatever you like. To me, it just makes more sense being able to cram in more food of what I like in 1 hr than to spend 2 hrs eating limited amount of food and making small talk....wasting time.....
For dessert, the strawberry cheesecake was awesome!
After eating, we explored the rest of the ship...
