Mediterranean Cruise Trip-Spain, France and Italy (Part 1 )

This is a long overdue post. Shortly after coming back from Jordan, we went for a Mediterranean cruise by Royal Caribbean during the first 2 weeks of May. Its my first trip to Europe and since none of us want to plan for this Europe trip, we decided to take the cruise where everything was planned out for us and we dun have to worry about lodgings, transportation or food.

We need to board the ship at Barcelona, Spain. Decided to take Turkish Airlines for the first time after hearing some v good feedbacks from the guys, especially regarding the lounge. OMG! The lounge was awesome! Its like stepping into a countryclub. Definitely one of the best lounge I had ever been to. There were so many varieties of food and beverages and its all free! There were pizzas, spaghetti, rice, mixed veggies, kabab, soup, cheesecakes, chocolate cakes, etc...and free flow of wine, all sorts of liquors (I drank my fave irish bailey...yumyum...), juices, sodas, slurpees, etc. I din even have time to try all the food and drinks coz we only have about 2 hrs transit time in Turkey before departing for Barcelona. Probably my last time visiting this lounge coz Hubby's gold Krisflyer card will expire next month... :(

Chicken soup, some lamb and chicken kabab with rice and Turkish pizza.
There was this tv room with several channels and earphones available so that u watch without disturbing others with the noise.
It's a v quiet and relaxing atmosphere
Found my cozy little corner to stare into space while munching....
Barcelona city tour
On the hilltop overlooking Barcelona city
The Royal Carribean ship, Liberty of the Sea from far.

The famous La Sagrada Familiar Basilica built by Anthony Gaudi (front view), one of the most impressive Gothic style architecture in Barcelona by Gaudi.

Back view of the building. It had been under construction since 1880s?! What I heard from the guide was that the architecture was so complex that it was still building and probably will never complete. Too bad, I din get the chance to go in due to time constraint on the tour. Hopefully, if I get the chance to go Barcelona again, I will surely go inside the building.
The city tour ended by bringing us to check into the ship. View of our stateroom with a window.
Off we sailed.....from Barcelona to the city of Cannes, France.

The seaside was beautiful.
This stretch of beach was known as the French Riveria. The water was cold...
The most famous attraction in Cannes was the Cannes theatre where stars graced the red carpet.
Next stop, Provence, supposed to be the place for lavenders. However, they were not in season so basically nothing much to look at. It's a very sleepy place....that's my look of boredom.
Countryside sceneries
This is supposed to be the Love Fountain. Doesn't look like much to me. Most shops and restaurants were closed, felt like a ghost town. Realized that in France, it's expensive to use the toilet. Like the sayings, there is no free lunch in this world, just like there are no free public restrooms. For example, when I was in Cannes, I decided to pop by Macdonalds to use the restroom but I was shocked to see they actually installed a security device at the restroom door which stated that u need to key in the access code from the recipe in order to access the bathroom. I was like, 'what?! R u kidding me?! this is ridiculous!'
The only thing I looked forward to was the food on the ship at the end of the day. After the first night at the assigned dinning room where it's more formal with people serving you and seated with people whom I dunoe, we spent the rest of the nights eating dinner at the buffet area. It's not that I am antisocial or I disliked my waiter but I preferred the wide variety of food found at the buffet, where there were Chinese and Japanese food, which were not available at the fine dinning room. Otherwise mostly all the food served at the dinning room can also be found at the buffet. That night, there was lobster bisque soup, my fave! Think I drank about 2-3 bowls of it...haha...It's good to help yourself to whatever you like. To me, it just makes more sense being able to cram in more food of what I like in 1 hr than to spend 2 hrs eating limited amount of food and making small talk....wasting time.....
For dessert, the strawberry cheesecake was awesome!
After eating, we explored the rest of the ship...
